Barely a year since Michael Bohn decided to end his venture with ISSUES in favour of finding his own way in the music world, Bohn is back and this time with his new crew Wildheart. There’s no word yet as to whether this year has a full-length release in store for the band however, premiering on Rock Sound’s website Wildheart have recorded and shot a video for their new single entitled ‘Lonely’.
Swapping his usual vocal position for a place behind the kit, Michael is joined by Jaten Dimsdale on vocals, Turner Wood on bass, Adonijah Cartwright on keys and ex-band mate Kevin Hanson on guitar. Speaking to Rock Sound last month, Michael told the magazine that, ‘Towards the end of my time in ISSUES, I wanted to do a side-project to get the style of music that WildHeart represents out of my system. This has given me the opportunity to fully do it. It’s a lot lighter sounding, at times almost like if Fall Out Boy went a bit modern country. There are so many bands in the metal scene that just hit a ceiling. I don’t want to do that, or fit into a certain bubble. It’s time for a change. We want to tour with anyone we can, go at this full-force’.
Continuing, ‘It’s music where you can drive along, wind the windows down, and just enjoy it. I know people are expecting me to write about what happened with ISSUES, but it’s not going to happen. I’m past it, moving forward 100 per cent and not looking back. There’s one song especially about starting over from square one. When you’re on a high, and then all of a sudden, you drop. You’ve got to go back to your roots and find your passion again, like when you were a teenager. That’s what WildHeart is’.
in commenting about the new single Michael has gone on to say that, ‘It’s been three long years since I’ve put music out; nine since I’ve put music out with Kevin. The feeling I get when it’s the day before release of this new project is pure excitement and joy. It’s crazy to think that the day has finally come after a year of hard work and so many emotions! The past year has been nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster, but today I feel joy! I truly hope everyone loves this song, even if it isn’t what you were expecting. I can honestly say I feel right at home with WildHeart’.
