Still reeling from the surprise Halloween release of ‘All Out Life’, Slipknot have today released behind the scenes footage of the band recording the song earlier this year. Originally released as an ‘Outside the 9’ fan-club exclusive, the band have gifted the wider community with this unique insight into the songs recording.
Opening with a brief shot of the studio from the perspective of the mixing desk we can see two monitors and a microphone used to communicate with the recording booth before we are teased with a blurred image of a half-naked man stood in the middle of the booth. Then, after a shot of the recording schedule we are taken to follow the wires of the desk to the sources of the sound. With quick flashes of decibel levels rising and falling with guitar jabs, we are introduced to the track and the people behind it. Switching between recorded sound overlaying the performances that created it and the recording of the sound itself, the video does a fantastic job of displaying the innerworkings of the recoding process, almost making the audience a part of the songs creation.
Additionally, in a post on his Instagram account front-man Corey Taylor has hinted at the possible revelation of a new set of masks for the band. Including the hashtags ‘Soon’, ‘Wanyk’, and ‘Newface’, it appears that alongside the new album we will also be gifted a new aesthetic for the band.
With so much to look forward to, 2019 is already shaping up to be a big year for Slipknot.
