Over all the other seasons, winter is where extreme metal reigns. As you leave the comfort and familiarity of your front door, the outside world with its frost laden ground alongside the winds that bit at your exposed flesh as you try desperately to gather the warmth around you seems to provide the perfect reflection of the searing yet beautiful guitar tones of the genre. And if there is one band that suits these conditions over all others, its Behemoth.
Released to mark the beginning of their European tour, the band have today released a music video for the new single ‘Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica’. Taken from their 2018 release entitled ‘I Loved You At Your Darkest’, ‘Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica’ continues to push the bands perversion of Catholicism with heavy use of papist imagery but with a dark and satanic twist. Masked and without discernible features the video sees the band performing the single against a backdrop of flame and what can only be described as unhuman torture.
Speaking of the video, Bassist Tomasz ‘Orion’ Wróblewski stated that ‘Since we began the writing process, ‘Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica’ was a stand-out contender to be featured as a single and music video.’ Continuing, ‘As the song evolved during rehearsal and recording, it gained this lively, furious vibe which you hear now – thus it includes live performance elements which we've not done in quite some time’. And in speaking about the process of shooting the video, he stated that on behalf of the band, ‘We are happy to work with Grupa 13 once again, and once again, they showed their super-professional approach at every step of the shooting and video production … Two separate locations, hours of preparation, but it was all worth it. In absentia dei, we evangelise! Enjoy!’
